ANNA
Anna is a mother of two who balances family life with a deep curiosity about the world and the stories people tell about it. After studying literature, she found her way into journalism, drawn by a desire to understand cultures beyond headlines and stereotypes. Living abroad changed her perspective in unexpected ways, especially when she realized how little people actually knew about the Netherlands. Conversations that started casually often revealed misconceptions, or complete gaps, about her country and its language.
What surprised her most was how overlooked Dutch is, often dismissed or misunderstood despite its richness and history. That discovery slowly turned into a personal mission. Through writing and research, Anna now focuses on sharing accurate, nuanced information about the Netherlands, its culture, and its language, giving it the attention she feels it deserves.

DAAN
Daan has always been fascinated by the past and the way it continues to shape the present. After finishing his studies in history, he never stopped being a history buff, and that passion naturally found its way into his work with language. For Daan, sharing Dutch with the world is not just about grammar or vocabulary, but about context, stories, and the people behind the words.
He spends much of his free time exploring museums, drawn to the quiet depth of objects and narratives that have survived centuries. He also enjoys historical video games and films, appreciating how history can be reimagined and brought to life in different formats. Theater performances hold a special place for him as well, combining language, emotion, and storytelling in a way few other art forms can. Through his lessons, Daan hopes to pass on not only the Dutch language, but also the cultural layers that make it meaningful.

SOPHIE
Sophie has a natural love for stories, whether she finds them in books, conversations with friends, or the latest Netflix series everyone is talking about. When she’s not curled up reading or exchanging opinions about plot twists, you’ll often find her hopping between cafés in Amsterdam, enjoying the simple pleasure of being in a lively city. She holds a degree in literature, a background that shaped both her curiosity and her appreciation for language in all its forms.
Teaching is where Sophie truly feels at home. She loves connecting with fellow language enthusiasts and believes learning works best when it feels human, relaxed, and engaging. Her goal is to make each lesson feel like a shared discovery rather than a classroom routine. Outside of teaching, she spends much of her free time caring for animals, a quiet passion that reflects her patience, empathy, and attentiveness—qualities she naturally brings into her lessons as well.

LUCAS
Lucas works behind the scenes, carefully revising educational materials to make sure everything is clear, accurate, and easy to follow. He has a sharp eye for detail and enjoys the quiet satisfaction of improving something piece by piece, knowing it will help others learn more smoothly. Outside of work, he prefers a calm, grounded life centered around his family and simple pleasures.
Whenever he gets the chance, Lucas escapes to the coast, where boating and swimming help him disconnect and reset. The sea, for him, is about space, rhythm, and silence. Interestingly, his past was anything but quiet. Years ago, he was deeply involved in the metal scene, drawn to its intensity, creativity, and sense of community. While his lifestyle has changed, that background still shapes his mindset: focused, disciplined, and a little unconventional.

EMMA
Emma enjoys being on the move, especially when it takes her abroad and into the mountains. Winter sports play a big role in her life, with skiing at the top of the list, offering both freedom and focus in equal measure. When she’s not chasing snow, she slows things down with a good book or an evening spent watching Dutch and American TV series, appreciating stories in all their different forms.
She values balance between activity and quiet time, finding inspiration both in physical challenge and in moments of rest. Traveling has shaped the way she sees the world, helping her stay open, curious, and adaptable. Emma brings that same mindset into everything she does, approaching new experiences with enthusiasm and calm confidence.

JAN
Jan feels most at home when he’s watching football with his friends, proudly wearing the national orange jersey and cheering along with every match. Football, for him, is about more than the game itself—it’s about shared moments, loyalty, and the sense of belonging that comes from supporting a team together. That same enthusiasm carries over into his love for the Netherlands and its language.
Jan genuinely enjoys teaching people about his country, from everyday life to the deeper values that shape Dutch society. He sees language as a bridge, a way to help others understand not just words, but attitudes and ways of thinking. He often says he feels proud to come from an inclusive and liberal society, one where people are encouraged to be themselves and find their own place. Through teaching and conversation, Jan says that he hopes to pass on that openness, helping others connect with Dutch culture.
